Apologies

I'm working from home today and find myself needing to take care of some housekeeping announcements, but without the studio archive. Therefore, I apologize to the multiple families and brides that I am temporarily neglecting by not posting your images here. What I do have are images from my portable hard drive of my friend, Jonalee. In an effort to do something nice for her husband, Jonalee came by the other day with multiple wardrobe options and a cooperative spirit. With the help of hair designer, Josh Nichols, the shoot was a resounding success. Special thanks to my wife, Lauri, for watching Jonalee's kids a couple hours (sorry but we don't normally provide daycare for my clients). These are the results from the shoot.

If you'd like to set up a vintage Hollywood session, please call (636) 532-9000. Tomorrow (Sunday) I'll be at the wedding show at Doubletree Hotel in Chesterfield. Be sure to come by the booth for some special discounts or to register for a free dinner for two.
Cheers,
Joseph

Sarah & Mike's Nuptials - More Like Friends Than Clients

It seems like I say this after every wedding, but I guess I truly do enjoy my job and my clients. Sarah & Mike were a genuine pleasure to photograph last Saturday. We were blessed with clear, although really hot, weather. My only regret, despite spending 14.5 hours shooting that day, is that we didn't have enough time to get everything we wanted. All in all, it was extremely productive and sufficiently magical. Here are some highlights:

Special thanks to Sarah & Mike just for choosing me as their photographer, to Jason for assisting me and proving to be VERY helpful, and to my bride Lauri for allowing me to be what I gotta be.

6/16/2009

Highlights

Melinda & David were a genuine treat last Saturday, and it was great to see former bride and groom, Amanda & Jason, too. I photographed Amanda & Jason's wedding almost 4 years ago. It made me realize that, in about 8-10 years from now, I'll be shooting 2nd generation weddings (in business since 1997). Anyway, this whole group is full of the kind of genuine people you can spend hours with and I'm grateful they chose me for such an honor.

Josephotography & Mount Pleasant Winery- A Great Combination!

Shot 3 engagement sessions last Saturday at Mount Pleasant Winery! Special thanks to Mr. Daniel Turpiano for making that possible! Thanks also to Brad & Nicole for choosing me to photograph their coming nuptials. And blessings to all!

6/03/2009

This weekend we had the distinct pleasure of shooting TWO ceremonies for Amy & Scott. This is a couple that, to watch them together, you can't help but smile. And even though Neil and I were working to capture awesome images for them, we had a great time too.

Finished up the Portfolio

Finished up Breanne's portfolio yesterday. Shooting a small ceremony tomorrow, and a big one on Saturday. God is good.

Oh the next project I plan to start on is Pet Portraits. Samples of my lab, Penny, will come sometime next month (pets are always welcome at Josephotography).

A Slight Change

If you check our Portraits page on the website on even an irregular basis, you'd know that the same 4 categories of portraits have been present for ages. Now, I still photograph babies and children, and love them, but I thought it might be time to make a change.

After careful study of the market, and my own heart, I decided it was time to shoot more commercial work. Specifically, modeling portfolios. Check out the newest slide show by clicking HERE. And, if modeling is a passion of yours and your portfolio could stand some growth, call me at 636-532-9000 and we'll set something up.

Over the past week...

Last Wednesday I had the priviledge of shooting the engagement session for Amy & Scott. In addition to the Missouri riverfront we went to Fritz's Frozen Custard in Florissant. I always prefer to go to locations that have sentimental value to the client.

Then on Saturday Neil and I shot the wedding of Laura & Phil at Mt. Pleasant Winery in Augusta. It was a beautiful day and the most gusty wind I've ever shot in for certain. Congratulations you guys!

This Saturday I'm shooting Sara & Ryan's wedding with Jason in Eureka. I'm so happy to be shooting in the most beautiful locations! I hope everyone reading this loves their job as much as I do and feels blessed on such a damp, dismal Monday.

Keep/start Smiling,

Joseph

I try to make Josephotography more than just a portrait studio. My buddy Allen has many resources, as we all do, for finding a new position. Please have a look at his resume' and give him a ring if you or someone you know can use a valuable resource like Allen.

URGENT

To say it's going to be cold this week is an understatement. I'm hosting a blanket drive in order that we might help our area shelters meet the needs they'll have. As I cannot have a bunch of blankets pile up on my front porch, I've made arrangements with the O'Fallon Fire Department to help collect the donations. Please bring your blanket by the O'Fallon Fire Department, go to the side of the building closest to the bank (west side) and ask for Karen or Julie. Here's the address:

119 East Elm
O'Fallon, MO 63366

Their phone number, in case you get lost, is (636) 272-3493.

Let's all work together to do something helpful for the area needy. In addition to a blanket, I'm sure canned goods are also welcome!

Blessings,
Joseph

Last Week's Wedding Show

Today is Saturday and it's been almost a week since we did the show at Orlando Gardens. I had a feeling before leaving that day that the show went well, and I was right! I truly enjoyed meeting the brides, grooms, mothers, sisters and friends from our area and getting to help inform them why we're a smart decision among photographers.

Within the first 15 minutes of the show I met with Leah and Tim, who graciously brought me some drippy, gooey chocolate from a neighboring booth. Like barbecue ribs, this is a treat best enjoyed in the privacy of my home. Yet, because I commented on how pleasant the aroma was, they were thoughtful enough to take care of me. THANKS, guys.

Later I spoke with Amanda about her wedding to Brian and really enjoyed getting to know more about her and her plans for the big day. There were so many more brides (and a few grooms) that gave me some of their time and shared their love of photography with me. I am extremely grateful.

And then there were the other vendors. I particularly enjoy meeting new people and revisiting with familiar faces. I made the embarrassing mistake of confusing an emery board for a tongue depressor (until I touched it). C'mon, they do look similar. I had a nice chat with Laurie from The Christy, a great reception spot where they understand the meaning of "Value" (like me).

No photos for this post so I suppose I'll wrap up. Next month I'm shooting a personal project that will allow me some badly needed expression.

And then in April I'm teaching 2 courses on photography at Renaud Spirit Center in O'Fallon, Missouri. The classes are for enthusiastic beginners who want to take better photographs, learn a little about the science and history of photography, and have a LOT of fun. One class is for kids, the other for adults. I'll post registration information as soon as it's available.

Blessings to all,
Joseph

Coming Up...

Blessings to all of you in the coming year from Josephotography! Special thanks to Breanne and Kalei for asking me to photograph them recently.

We'll be at Orlando Gardens this Sunday, January 4th, for a wedding show. Be sure to come prepared to have fun and receive lots of information. Click here for more information.

As a business that's been around since 1997, we've seen the economy rise and fall, and fall, and fall. Seriously, though, this has presented opportunity to seek other avenues for growth. Look for minor changes to our website soon with more information or samples for portraiture and commercial photography.

One last note. Brides and Grooms of Josephotography enjoy a security that we seldom mention. Over the course of an engagement, many things happen. Sometimes this means job loss, the health needs of a loved one, etc. Whenever clients of ours are unable to make payments on their wedding package, we still show up and shoot the best possible images at the wedding. No mention of money is made and no money is ever accepted at a wedding (it's a day for celebration -not business). The money part can be figured out without missing all the magical moments that can't be repeated.

Gotta run. Hope to see you this weekend at the show!

Merry Christmas!

My sister sent me the following in an email. Feel free to contact me if any of it rings true for you....

HOLIDAY EATING TIPS

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. It's rare.. You cannot find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple,Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? LaborDay?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Re-read tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner.

Remember this motto to live by:"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!" Have a great holiday season.

11/25/2008

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is how my twins came home from school today. I had to share.

I hope this finds you well, safe and among family.

Wedding Photography Prices Fall As Economy Slows Down

For all our brides, or those serving a bride, who are now concerned over how to cut costs and still have their dream wedding, I have news:

For the first time since we began Josephotography in 1997, our wedding photography prices have dropped! And they haven't just dropped, they've fallen to a price point we haven't been at in about 6 years!

We've always offered comprehensive packages that included, what most consider, awesome features. However, as clients prioritize their spending, they may still want professional coverage without all the extra features like, a gallery-wrap canvas, pre-bridal session, dress-fitting session (it seems I like hyphens), rehearsal coverage, etc. Therefore, for the first time in our history, wedding services are a la carte! Choose only the features you want and create your own package!

By doing this, we do not have to cut our costs by compromising our service, quality or time. You, on the other hand, can save thousands of dollars and still not have to regret choosing a friend or family member to photograph your most important day. For more information, refer to our PRICES page, email or call.

Keep Smiling,
Joseph

For His Eyes Only!

Hey guys. This is for you men who read my blog. You know who you are. If you're thinking of proposing on one of the many special days coming up (Thanksgiving weekend, Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year's, or Valentine's Day) consider having the magical moment professionally photographed. Fees start as low as $250 and, if you commission Josephotography to photograph your wedding, the fee will be applied toward those services.

Good Luck!

Last weekend

Last weekend, light from a nearby star traveled apx. 96 million miles, bounced off of Christy and Chris and entered my camera. I was very fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time. Of course, some of the light did come from my trusty flash.

Congratulations, you guys!

The Newest Thing...

Some time ago I shot a session with my assistant, Leslie, as the model. The idea was to recreate some of the iconic style of Hollywood photography in the 1930's and 1940's. Here is the result:

I have not come up with my own name for these sessions yet and I'm still interested in shooting additional clients to help build the portfolio. Possible usage could be gallery-wrap canvas or surprise gift/print for your own Hollywood Hunk. If this kind of session interests you, DON'T TELL ANYONE. Email or call for session information or to schedule an appointment.

Cheers,
Joseph

VOTE

At this point, the biggest way I can impact tomorrow’s election is to vote. However, I would be very frustrated with myself on Wednesday morning if I did not say the following (and if Obama wins).

For our security, our economy, our education, our unborn children, and our country as a whole, Vote McCain!

And people, please. It’s not that I love McCain or agree with him more than 50% of the time. But it’s time to choose the lesser of 2 evils, the known quantity, the patriot…

That’s all I can say.

10/28/2008

The Newest Engagement Session

I always appreciate it when a client allows me to make suggestions regarding wardrobe, location, time of day, season, etc. Megan & Matt allowed me to pick the Saint Louis Zoo as part of their engagement session. I've shot some weddings or wedding-day portraits there, but never an engagement session, so this was exciting. Also on my list of dream locations, the museum beneath the Gateway Arch (I just think it's a neat space) and the interior of the St. Louis Art Museum.

This Saturday will be Christy & Chris' wedding. If you're experiencing deja vu, there's good reason. This is the 2nd Christy & Chris I'll be photographing this year.

Thanks for reading my blog. Some news I anticipate sharing will have to do with charitible contributions and how our client-friends can help.

Just An Update

Let's see if I can condense into something the ADD crowd (like me) can handle. Shot Juan and Holly last Saturday. Loved it! They were open to tying new things and had a romantic, adventurous energy.

The website is FULL of new content with 7 new slide shows posted this month and new pricing information. Here's the new shows. Just click one to see.

There's a sale on gallery-wrap canvas right now. 30% off! Won't last long so, if you've been waiting to make this purchase, now is the time!

Engagement session at the Saint Louis Zoo this Saturday, weddings on 11/1/08, 11/8/08 and 12/6/08.

Got to run. Time for supper. Keep Smiling!

Joseph

Courage and Umbrellas

Wednesday I shot a HS senior session with Alison, who is the sister of a former groom. I'm always flattered when our clients or their family members come back for new portraits. On this occassion, however, it rained -a lot. So never being the one to say "quit", we made lemonade (from lemons), and shot some awesome portraits in the rain.

Special thanks to Alison and Janet for being open-minded troopers.

Keep Smiling,
Joseph

Over the Weekend...

Over the weekend I got to take my kids to the pumpkin patch. I'm amazed at how Halloween gets bigger every year and, consequently, is starting to resemble Christmas. I'm seeing more Halloween lights on neighborhood homes. Before we know it we'll be telling Freddy or Jason what candy we want for Halloween (although probably not sitting on their laps) and going door to door on Christmas (I'm not sure why, but just watch).

Wow. That got away from me before I could stop it. Here's a couple of shots from Sarah & Mike's engagement session last Friday.

9/30/2008

The Stock Market

Yesterday was a bad day on Wall Street, to say the least. Despite the economic state and concern, I think it makes a lot of sense to continue to live much as we have been. After all, our dollars are backed by faith in government, not gold. We will not be cutting any corners at Josephotography that would affect a client's experience. To make buying decisions a little easier, we're discounting enlargement sales on our website. Until things stabilize, save 30% on orders $250 or more. This means that an order for enlargements of $250 will only cost $175 (plus shipping)!

Next month (October) I'll be shooting the Shea-Garcia wedding, some senior portraits, and the families of many client-friends for holiday greeting cards.

Be blessed,
Joseph

Senior Season

Just a note that it's not too late to have your Senior photos taken! Beware, though. At Josephotography we don't shoot stylized, over-produced studio portraits. Our approach is simple reality. Call today to schedule a consultation. (636) 493-9700 or (314) 739-4002.

Congratulations!!

A couple of weeks ago we had the privilege of photographing Jamie & Brad's nuptials. Their location choices were excellent and provided for some fantastic images. As we are always striving to be the best choice for local portraiture, I wanted to surprise them with a gift at the end of the night. Here they are reviewing matted photos from their wedding day in a leather display box.

Our little surprises are just one way that we try to show our appreciation for your business.

Blessings,
Joseph

Why Have We Moved?

Much has changed in the world in the almost 4 months since my last post. As you probably know, we moved from our O’Fallon studio to a larger, more central space in Saint Charles last March. This space was awesome and a lot of time, work and money went into making it the studio I’ve always wanted. If you were able to see it either with a consultation, portrait session or social visit I am appreciative and honored.

Shortly after moving in it became clear that there was a mold problem. When asked to resolve this, the building’s owner was unwilling to take necessary steps to make the studio mold-free. Consequently some damage had occurred to our furnishings and equipment and we had to move out near the end of last August (by the way, a HUGE thanks to all who helped).

As you can see, the Saint Charles studio was beautiful and moving out has been a challenge. Leslie (my assistant) and I currently work from my home and will likely continue in this way until issues with the previous landlord are resolved. That being said, we still offer all of our services and are even providing free shipping on all albums and frames.

I hope you continue to patronize our humble boutique, to tell your friends about your experiences with us, and to trust that a company founded in 1997 has not gotten this far by running away from “challenges”.

The Latest Commercial Project

Last month I had the privilege of photographing the new, world-headquarters for Maverick Technologies in Columbia, Illinois. The photographs have been used for a great website allowing viewers to take a virtual tour. I was so excited to work on this project! Last year I photographed the ground-breaking ceremony, and to see the building erected and in use so quickly was truly impressive. Check it out by clicking HERE.

Senior photos

Senior photo season is almost here! Call (636) 493-9700 today to schedule an appointment. Comprehensive sessions start at just $50 with no wardrobe limits!

What's New

Ok. Once again, it's been too long since I've blogged. We've moved into the new studio in Saint Charles and there's much settling in still to be done.

Warm weather is coming, and with it, outdoor sessions. Our new studio lends itself to urban chic, historic and French influences all within walking distance. Photos of the new studio and surrounding areas will be in the next blog, I promise.

Congratulations to Jen & Robbie who were married last Saturday, April 12. This is a huge tease because their entire wedding won't go online until tomorrow afternoon.

Groundhogs and animal cruelty.

Ok. I'm not an advocate of animal cruelty. That being said, I'm about ready to strangle that darn Punxsutawney Phil!

It's Snow Joke

Ok. I couldn't resist the play on words. Here's a picture of how the Radican's make a "Snow Dad". My oldest, Maddie, was a big helper. SINCE SO MANY HAVE ASKED...
The camera was only on the snowman for 2 minutes, and had a white paper towel behind it for protection. The camera has been used since and works great.
As a business note, all gallery-wrap canvas size 16x20 and larger are 20% off all month! These are valid as pre-orders for our coming weddings, or for any client we've shot within recent years! For more information, contact the studio.
Our studio is moving sometime next month (The new studio is currently being made over)! Look for more updates here in coming weeks.
Hope you made time to enjoy the snow.
Keep Smiling,
Joseph

Wedding Show Update!

Wow! What a day Saturday was. I meant to take some photos of our booth at The Wedding Show to put up here, but we were swamped (and I didn't bring my camera).

We had actual brides from weddings we photographed in 2007 available to answer questions from inquisitive brides and mothers. Kudos to the grooms that were brave and patient and able to assist.

Special-huge thanks to Scott, Jason, Julia and Lauren. Thanks also to Sara of 5/31/08. Your fast response and kind words were much appreciated.

This month we'll be booking up the 2008 wedding schedule, resuming the Photography Club at WCA, and shooting Tony & Elizabeth's wedding. Blessings to all of you in the new year!

Cheers,
Joseph

The Wedding Show!

I can't contain my anticipation for this upcoming weekend. I'm talking, of course, about The Wedding Show at America's Center. There are other wedding vendor fairs that happen throughout the year, and even another one this weekend (Sunday), but we only take part in this one show all year, and only on Sturday.

Be sure to come out on the 5th. We'll have some awesome new samples, staff on hand to answer questions, and something special... To the best of my knowledge, we're the only ones at the show who will have actual clients on hand to answer questions from inquisitive brides and grooms! They'll be able to tell anyone who wants to know exactly what it was like to have a wedding photographed by Josephotography! Can you tell I'm busting at the seams over this?

Some tips for a successful Wedding Show:
Wear comfortable shoes
Dress for 60 degree weather, despite being indoors.
Bring a small bag for literature and giveaways.
Come by the Josephotography booth!

I've got to go outside and cool off. Blessings in the New Year.

A Family At Christmas

Just wanted to share a recent photo. This is Jenny, Justin, Diesel and Diablo. Jenny & Justin are a former bride and groom that I had the pleasure of photographing last year. It's always a pleasure when I can catch up and rephotograph client-friends with history. Anyway, enough talk. I loved this photograph.

Magazine Cover

I recently had the privilege of shooting the cover for Saint Louis Bride and Groom Magazine's Winter / Spring issue. This was my first cover for them. Special thanks to Scott and Neil for assisting with the shoot, B&G for the opportunity, Caroline Vineyard, West Model and Talent, and all the Josephotography brides and grooms that brought us this far.

WHERE TO FIND US:
This Saturday, Dec 1, from 12-4 we'll be at Westgate Christian Academy's Vendor Fair. I'll be giving away a free 8x10 print for any session booked that day and a portion of the sales will be donated to the school.

January 5th we'll be at America's Center for The Wedding Show. The show actually goes through Sunday but, as most of you know, we don't work on Sunday. If you're a bride or groom coming to the show I hope you'll find time to come out on Saturday so that I can personally meet you.

Yesterday I got to take the WCA photo- graphy club to the Art Museum. I'm amazed at how many youth and adults alike have never been to our world-class museum. Admission is free! The only way they could make it easier is to send a shuttle to your home. C'mon!

Ginormous Update!

Well first of all, many apologies for not blogging in a while. So much has kept my attention that I sometimes feel overwhelmed, as I'm sure you do, too.

There's a new slide show on the website that I'm very excited about, along with some other changes. Click HERE to see it.

I've been shooting family sessions more lately, as is the case this close to the Christmas season. One feature our studio is offering this year is custom greeting cards. We've always offered photo greeting cards similar to what you might find elsewhere, but these are custom layouts on high-quality stock. It's kind of like a 2-4 image photo montage.

I'm sponsoring the photography club at Westgate Christian Academy again this year! The kids are off to a great start and we're looking forward to our field trip, art show and all the learning and fun. The club meets on Tuesdays after school. If you are needing to schedule an appointment, please know that Wednesday evenings, various Saturdays and other times are available.

Canvas is now available!! For years Josephotography has provided prints on matte, glossy, pro luster and fiber. I'm pleased to announce we now carry canvas! Canvas is a great way to display your cherished images. This is not a canvas effect applied digitally, but actual canvas! Sizes vary from 6x6 to 30x40! I encourage you to schedule a visit to come see samples.

Keep Smiling!

Fruit Salad

For any of you who know me, you know one of my favorite foods is fruit salad. Today I made my twin girls a fruit salad and just had to photograph it. The only missing ingredient was grapes, which I will be sure to have on hand next time. Oh and if you're wondering, the topping is blueberry yogurt.

By the way, Portraits In The Park is right around the corner. Services have improved this Fall and space is limited. To learn more about the event, click HERE or give us a call at (636) 379-8183.

Keep Smiling!... or else.

UPDATE

Lots of news and I'm very behind on the posts. Even still, I will keep this short.

Many of you have been asking and I've finally set the date for the next Portraits In The Park! The Fall session is October 6th. The sessions have been extended to offer more attention to each client, and PITP has been further improved in other ways. For more information or to make an appointment, please call soon.

Our studio telephone number has changed. The new number is (636) 379-8183. We have been in our current studio for 2 years and I'm just now making this long overdue change. Thanks for being so patient everyone!

New portrait sessions are coming soon. This is kind of top secret, so you'll know more with the next update of the website. What matters is, they will rock!

I'll be saying more about this later, but we're currently seeking the addition of a photographer to our documentary corral. Please call us for inquiries.

Thats about it for now. Please check back soon for more information and updated samples.

Cheers,

Joseph

Noel Project

Greetings Everyone!

I wanted to take a minute to let ya'll know about a great golf tournament I got to be a part of. It's called Noel Project. In 1997, the “Noel Project” was created by the efforts of Day One Music. The project’s mission is to provide in need families with food, clothing, and gifts for the Christmas season. Day 1 Music is based in Nashville, Tennessee, which is where the first Noel Project was held. Each year the project continues to grow by touching more families. Since 1999, the St. Louis area alone has helped hundreds of families and thousands of kids. This year the project will be held in Toledo, Ohio, and at two locations in the St. Louis area: First Christian Church of Florissant, Missouri and Harvest Assembly Church in Pontoon Beach, Illinois.

Be sure to check out their website by clicking here. Special thanks to Mark & Kim just for letting me be a part of their passion.

Cheers,

Joseph

Just for fun I submitted one of my photos from last Winter's ice storm, as did many others. It's on the Missouri government's website, and here's a link.

Independence Day!

Happy 4th everyone!

Check out this slideshow from a wedding we shot on June 22nd. We went to some of the usual locations, but there was nothing "usual" about the connection between Allison & Mark or the new shots we tried out that day. Special thanks to Pam Bredenkamp for filling in on the big day. The following comments are from the mother of the bride, or MOB as we sometimes call them.

"Joseph,

I just want to let you know that we have been thrilled with the wedding pictures! I have looked at the pictures over and over. And it seems like they get better each time I see them. And the slide show is so cute. At first I didn't really like the music that went with it, but the more I watched it, the more it just fit perfectly with the mood of the pictures. I have emailed your web site to all my friends--some of whom may need a wedding photographer in the next few years.

Again, thanks for helping to make Mark and Allison's wedding day special. I think you captured their "spirit" very well. I also want you to know that we had talked to several photographers the day we came to talk to you. And after talking to you, they pretty much made up their mind right then that they wanted you to take their pictures. And I think they made a good choice.

~Kristy"

Remember what a great country we have today and be safe!

Keep spinning,
Joseph

Happy Graduation!

For those of you whom have the pleasure of celebrating a graduation this month, CONGRATULATIONS! This is my Kindergarten graduate, Maddie. She's made us all very proud (and her daddy got to take the photo). We look forward to the great things she'll be doing in 1st Grade.

Blessings Everyone,
Joseph

Highway Flippin 40!

So. It's finally time. For most of our weddings, events, and even some portrait sessions, hwy 40 is the official monkey in the wrench. To help with the chaos, here's a website I found. Life is nuts and full of changes. Let's all just try to exercise patience until things return to "normal".

More Nesting

Hey Everyone!

I've got some friends, who happen to be clients, who are building a house and need to sell their condo in Saint Charles. I always try to help my friends whenever possible, so please take a look at this place if you have even the slightest itch to nest somewhere cool.

The Wedding Season and American Idol

Weddings, weddings and more weddings! 4 weddings last March officially kicked off our wedding season. Scott, Neil and I teamed up on a truly Irish wedding on March 17th.

I'm kind of working backward on the slideshows, so I hope you'll forgive me. Here is a slideshow from our wedding on March 31st. We had awesome images from this wedding, but some of my favorites are from the hair appointment as we aren't usually privelaged to be present there.

Cheers,
Joseph

Forest Park Update For All

Just wanted to drop a line to let everyone know about Forest Park. As some of you know, Forest Park underwent much construction last year. That seems to be the trend lately as I was there last Tuesday (3/27/07) to shoot an engagement session of Michelle & Nick. We were going to use the World's Fair Pavilion only to find that the entire hill, steps and fountain were down to dirt.

My first thought was, It's about time! Whomever poured those steps a century ago must have been 4 feet tall and thought everyone else was, too. Those same steps were crumbling and unsightly. I look forward to whatever they replace them with.

Come back later and I'll have shots from that engagement session!

Joseph

Spring is Here!

No, Spring isn't officially here until later this month. However Saint Louis has given us a taste of Spring, and even a tease of Summer this week. I just can't resist celebrating the magic of Spring.

To kick things off officially, I'm giving two free Rascals tickets to the first person to email this post back to me. The seats are in the front row behind home plate. The River City Rascals play right here in O'Fallon at TR Hughes Ballpark. They're talented ballplayers and there's always tons of entertainment at the stadium.

3/01/2007

Is Spring here yet?!?

Now I know the expression in St. Louis is, "If you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes". I don't know about 15 minutes, but I have found this to be true in hourly increments.

My father had a colorful expression for the kind of rain we saw this morning. I won't repeat it here, but I will say is that it had to do with a cow and a flat rock. We just acquired dog number 3 (pictures to come) and after they all came in from being outside, the house did not smell very lovely. Needless to say, candles are burning.

It is nice to see the Spring weather emerging, though. It reminds me of the rapidly-approaching wedding and outdoor portrait season. This year we begin with our first wedding on March 17th (I bet they'll wear green) and, except for a brief vacation planned for August, we won't stop running until November. I'm both anxious and excited.

For you brides preparing to wed this year, I've been thinking of a way to help get you ready for communicating with your photographer (even if it isn't me or Scott). The following is a brief dictionary of photography jargon to aide you:

Fast Lens: A lens that photographs well in low light. Maximum apertures (openings) range from F2.8 to 1.4. Also typically expensive.

Soft: Usually referring to the quality of focus of an image. This means out of focus.

Tack-sharp: Focused very well.

Crop: To remove the outer edges of a photograph and enlarge a center portion.

SLR: Single Lens Reflex. Basically, a camera where viewing and focusing is done through the lens rather than a separate optical device. This kind of camera is used by most, if not all, wedding professionals.

Proofs: Un-corrected images (no retouching or cropping). Can be in print or digital/virtual form.

Happy Brides: Those of you whom have chosen Josephotography as your official wedding photographer!

I've got to go now. More to come soon.

Keep Smiling,
Joseph

Wedding/PITP update

Greetings Everybody!

Words like psyched, stoked or amped can't begin to describe how excited I am right now. You may have noticed that our wedding packages have been restructured. The new packages are for 2008 weddings. Why are they on the website now? Because so many high-demand 2007 dates are booked. I still welcome your calls for 2007 dates and, if we aren't available, I'm happy to recommend some qualified studios.

I'm also working on some new sample albums. Here's a page from one of Scott's weddings. To see any of our new products or samples, feel free to drop by the studio. Just call first to make sure we're not out shooting or eating lunch.

Finally, Portraits In The Park (4/21/07) is about 30% full. Don't wait to make your appointment!

Keep Smiling. Think Warm Thoughts.

Portraits In The Park

Greetings Everyone!

There's so much to update I need to break it up into segments! We're already getting inquiries about the next Portraits In The Park and I'm pleased to say the date has been set! April 21st! This Spring we'll have a special treat that we haven't offered before, but I can't mention it here because it's top secret. Trust me, you'll like it!

If you have any interest at all in being a part of this fun portrait experience, please call soon to make your appointment. Be sure to check out the slide show on our website via the above link!

Blessings,

Winter is Back!

Well, like most of you, I looked out my window this morning and saw the dismal array of gray skies and ice everywhere. “Wonderful!” I thought. Since the last ice storm I’ve wanted to capture some icy images, primarily of trees.

I knew the vision I had of sunlight streaming through branches in a way that would make each branch glisten. Unfortunately, there was no sun today. There was, however, my trusty Sunpak flash and radio transmitter. I had my gear ready.

The first image I found a bit north on Hwy 79, and then off to a side road just south of Hwy C. I used my Nikon D2X with a Nikon 80-200 f2.8. The focal length was about 180mm, with a shutter speed of about 1/20.

The second image was shot right in my subdivision. I was frustrated having not found what I considered the right kind of tree throughout my drive, and saw it on the way home. Same camera. The lens was Nikon 24-85 f2.8-4 and about 50mm focal length. F5 at 1/80 shutter speed. My Sunpak flash was used to light the tree from below and behind.

Now, here’s your homework. Everyone take some time to pick up your camera, dust it off, and shoot something. Email me your images if you want to, so long as they’re rated PG. Have fun!

Cheers,
Joseph

Wedding No-Show?

Hi Everyone!

There's an awesome event this weekend at America's Center simply called, "The Wedding Show". In 10 years in business this will be our first year of intentionally not going. Why? Because we're fully booked in nearly all the high-demand months for the coming year.

It's still a terrific resource for any bride and I highly recommend going. Meanwhile, don't hesitate to contact us about your date. We aren't completely booked and still have many dates available. If we are booked on your date, we'll be happy to recommend a talented, trustworthy photographer from another studio.

A great school and a tax deduction?

Hi Everyone!

Everyone wants money for their favorite charity at this time of year... and I'm no exception. There's a new, non-denominational Christian school here in O'Fallon. Westgate Christian Academy is a K-8 private school in it's first year. Right now, the school operates on 3 campuses and seeks to grow into a singular campus (yes, I know that sounds backwards -just trust me).

As the parent of a Westgate student, I personally have to admit that this school has exceeded my expectations in every way. Curriculum, extra-curricular activities, and the teachers and support staff couldn't be more professional and kind. Yes, there are a couple of other schools here in St. Charles County, but I truly believe that this school will nurture our young kids into strong, moral leaders. Check them out for yourself at their website. If you wish to make a donation to the school, it is tax deductible.

Smiles and blessings,
Joseph

Christmas, The Grinch and The Rascals

Holy Cow!... Has it really been nearly a month since my last post?

I've been a little busy lately, especially for December. Our oldest daughter performed in her school's Christmas program (yes "Christmas", not "Winter"). Our church put on their annual Christmas program "The Promise" which I was privileged to photograph. If you want a photographic challenge, consider theater lighting.

Of course, there's the shopping. My wife took care of most of that this year, for which I am grateful.

We photographed our first Breakfast With Santa for a local elementary school. Scott did all of the shooting and just performed wonderfully. He knows just how to coax the most genuine smile out of a timid child.

I just got off the phone with a sales representative from the River City Rascals, a local baseball team (Frontier League) regarding season tickets. Last year, many of our brides and grooms received free tickets as a special Thank You gift from Josephotography. They always put on a good show, win or lose, and the seats are right behind home plate.

My girls and I were watching the classic How The Grinch Stole Christmas last night and the same thing happened to me as it always does. At the part where the Grinch's heart grows 3 sizes and breaks the measuring device, I cried. Not bawling mind you, but I can't fight the one or two tears of happiness when he discovers the meaning of Christmas (other than Jesus' birth). Does anyone else have this reaction? I guess I'm a softie like my Dad was. Anyway, I highly recommend the Grinch to young and old alike.

Our company Christmas party is coming soon and I'm looking forward to having all of us together. Look for pictures from the party here in the coming weeks.

May God richly bless you this season.

Merry Christmas!
Joseph

Monthly Payments for Weddings!?!?!

Hi Everybody!

I've been thinking a lot lately about what to put here. One recent improvement to our wedding services is our payment policy. For as long as people have hired other people to serve them on their wedding day, there have been budgets. With most companies, a certain amount is due to reserve the date and then 1 or 2 other large payments are due at irregular times.

Not anymore! We are now offering monthly payment plans over the course of the engagement! Planning a wedding is hard enough. Now, when you book Josephotography as your wedding photographer, you will know exactly what you owe each month and the amount won't change. Our reasons for doing this are simple. We just want to offer the best product and service available.

Here's a shot from a wedding last week, Kara & Jason. They are very kind and very in love and currently away on honeymoon.

Keep Smiling,
Joseph

10/25/2006

Way to go, Scott!

Scott just shot an engagement session yesterday, and he did a terrific job. Brian & Molly are in for a treat on their wedding day.

10/24/2006

October craziness

Is November here yet? By the time October is over we will have shot 5 weddings, about 10 engagement sessions and 3 families. This week alone we have 7 meetings with prospective brides for 2007 weddings. I couldn't be happier about the blessings God has given my business and family, but I also look forward to a slower winter season.

I really wish I could post something from all the sessions here on the blog, but it just isn't possible. Here are a few shots from an engagement session I shot this afternoon. The weather was good, but the light was a bit harsh for my taste so we found an unocupied barn for some great light. Check out the truck shot, too!

Well now I must go. I'm taking a break for the rest of the evening to watch the remainder of the Cardinals game. Go Cards!

-Joseph

PS: Thanks to Jonalee for keeping me posted on the industry's leaders and their recent blogs. Thanks always to my perfect bride, Lauri.

Photography Club?

Hi Everyone!

I'm trying hard to stay caught up on the blog, but this is our busy season. We have 9 weddings between September and October this year and I have to stay on top of the slideshows and album layouts. I've brought on 3 new photographers just recently. Dan has been on his first 2 weddings and is doing well. Jason and Eric will have their first experiences soon and I'm very excited.

I've always wanted to teach photography. Even though this isn't "teaching" perse, I am now sponsoring the photography club at my daughter's school for the 5th graders on up. The name of the group is "Kids Who Click" or, as I like to call it "It's Better Than Math". The name was parodied (thanks Scott) from PPA's Chicks Who Click group, which I'm sure they won't mind. This week the kids are assigned to photograph trees in different ways. I'll let you know how they do -awesome I'm sure.

Well that's it for now. Two weddings last weekend. Here's me laying on the ground to get Patrick & Lindsay in a shot with the St. Louis Arch.

Smile a lot.
Joseph

Arthur & Kerensa

Ok. I know what you must be thinking. How many posts is Joseph going to do in the same week? As many as it takes, I guess.

I just finished shooting an engagement session for Arthur and Kerensa and I'm so excited about the results. I HAVE to get to bed now. The whole staff is shooting weddings and we photographers have to learn when to turn the computer off before a big shoot. Check back on Monday for wedding highlights.

Smile like crazy,
Joseph

Portraits In The Park

What's up? I'm taking a minute to show off the family session we did last Saturday. It was our 4th Portraits In The Park. Even though this was my only appointment that didn't reschedule that day, the day was still a success.

We (Scott & Jonalee) also shot a wedding where the pictures just came out awesome! Click HERE to see them.

Whatever you do, don't smile.... Did I get ya? C'mon, you're smiling right now I know it.

My Neighbor's Windmill

Hi Everyone-

On weekend mornings it falls to me to oversee our two dogs and their first order of the day, going potty. I've had much appreciation for the sunrise light we've been blessed with and find it to be the only redeeming aspect of the experience. I recently took this photograph of my neighbor's windmill because I just couldn't stand the itch (my photographic urge) any more. Hope you like it.

Why not spend a few minutes trying to photograph something you find beautiful? Email me with your inspirational pictures.

Keep Smiling,
Joseph

Balloon Glow

Hey Everybody!

So much amazing stuff is happening with Josephotography right now that I'm busting at the seams. The real miracles, however, are the sparks that occur between a bride and groom during their engagement.

Last Friday I shot an engagement session at the Forest Park Balloon Glow! Jason & Kara were very understanding about the traffic delay and still managed to put on their best smiles. It's obvious their happiness can't be disguised.

Buy 3, get 1 free!

Boy am I excited about this! Beginning immediately our customers will be able to pre-purchase wedding enlargements one month before the wedding date. A pre-purchase discount is available on several package options.

Buy (3) 8x10, get (1) free

Just another reason why Josephotography seems to make the most sense in Saint Louis area wedding photography.

By the way, we appreciate the congratulations we've been getting on making Scott full time. Scott, one of our photographers, has been with us since April of 2005 and has joined us full time to photograph weddings and portraits and design albums. And I thank God, too, because I'd be pulling my hair out if he hadn't.

Take care everybody,
Joseph

Now That's Love

Hi Everybody!

I wanted to share a romantic story about a couple I met with last week. I make it a point to ask each bride and groom how they met and got engaged, as well as other stuff, to help me learn more about them. Over the years I've learned that true love really is defined by the thoughtful, selfless things we do for each other.

In this particular relationship, the groom, who does not drink coffee, learned how to make coffee each morning for his bride. He noticed that there would be coffee left at home when she went to work because it didn't all fit in her travel-size cup. So what did he do? He went to Target to purchase the second-largest coffee cup I've ever seen. It's called the "Bubba keg" and believe it or not, it actually has the words "Bubba keg" on the stainless steel side. Now she can take all of her coffee with her to work each day and, while she must endure some moderate hazing from her coworkers, she is the only one in her office with all of her good coffee and a man thoughtful enough to spend the rest of his life with her meeting those needs she didn't even know she had.

I hope this story has inspired you. Now go do something nice for someone you love.

Keep Smiling,
Joseph

Roasted Red Peppers and the Panini

Not too long ago, my wife tried a new recepie for a panini-style sandwhich. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure, a panini is a sandwhich that is mashed flat on a grill on both sides (we dip ours in soup).

One of the key ingredients in our turkey panini is the roasted red pepper. Unfortunately our grocery store of choice, Shop n' Save, has stopped carrying them. In an act of desperation, Lauri checked Dierbergs where they were also unavailable. Does anyone know where we can buy these wonderful creations?

For more about panini sandwhiches, click here. Please help us out. Once you've had the best it's hard to go back to bologna (or whatever I ate previously).

Keep Smiling,
Joseph

The Death of the Duck?

Is the Duck Dance dead? That's what seems to be staring us in the face yet no one has investigated this. It seems that I never see the famed Dance of the Duck anymore. I can't even remember the last time I did. The question on everyone's mind is "Will I ever flap my wings again?"

Rome, Atlantis, "Where's the beef" and now, THE DUCK DANCE. What's next? Capitalism? Email me, please. What do you think of this? I will post the results.

Here is a link sent to me by Jonalee. Check it out.

Keep Smiling,
Joseph

UPDATE: I heard from one of our grooms, Jason, that he and Roxanne (his bride-to-be) fully intend to celebrate what she calls "The Chicken Dance" on their wedding day. I am happy for them and Scott will document the dance with all the dignity and majesty it deserves.

I'll search the archives this week for a good Duck Dance photo to accompany this post.

New News

Hi Everyone!

You know, we're always trying to learn from our experiences at Josephotography. Our packages hadn't changed in a while and I wasn't seeing much interest in anything but package B. Well, since there had always been an interest in adding on the DVDRom, which comes with a copyright release, it has now been added to package D (actually for a couple of months now). The result is that all the packages are more appealing and we are booking 2007 fast!

Package B will remain popular for a long time because it really does cover the bases including:
  • Two photographers
  • No time limits
  • 8x10 Renaissance flushmount album in 4 cover styles
  • (10) 4x5, (2) 5x7 and (1) 8x10

As always we are happy to meet with new people to discuss their Big Day needs. If you can't bring your fiance', feel free to bring a maid of honor, mother or mail carrier.

That's it for now. Tons of work awaits. Remember to be patient with the grooms, in-laws, and especially the photographers!

Keep Smiling,

Joseph

Update

Greetings everyone! I've gotten behind on the blogs for a while and I apologize. There's an expression about burning the candle at both ends. It refers to working from dawn to dusk. Well, this month I've pretty much thrown the candle into the fire! It really has been an amazing June, and 2006 for that matter.

As soon as possible I'll be adding someone full-time to help out with the album layouts, shooting schedule and correspondence with the clientele.

In the last week we've shot real estate agent portraits, two executive sessions, and a wedding. Today I met with Bob & Joan, a bride and groom from a couple of weeks ago, to go over their images and place an order. Most brides and grooms do not come in to the studio for this, but I enjoy it. I find it a time to catch up and enjoy good company while we discuss photography or whatever. I also enjoy getting to hear and see the possitive reactions (oohs and ahhs) to seeing the images on the large screens.

I've upgraded my backup camera from the faithful Nikon D70 to the Nikon D200. The D200 shoots 5 frames per second at 10.2 mp. This means that I can shoot a great sequence of shots where the action is fast. My main camera is still the Nikon D2X (8fps at 12.4 mp). It's all part of keeping the best equipment on hand to provide the best images possible, not to mention I can't resist the "toys".

I've got to go now. Thanks for checking the blog. I will do my best to keep you all updated about the exciting changes at Josephotography.

Keep Smiling!
Joseph

Quick tips for preserving photographs

There are some steps I've taken throughout my career toward preserving my personal photographs. I wanted to help save the world in my own way by sharing this invaluable info.

1) Be choosy about the location of your hanging (framed) portraits. Sunlight fades photographs. If you hang a cherished photograph in a spot that gets direct sunlight during part of the day, even only part of the year, it won't last. Sun-damaged prints will yellow prematurely. You've been warned.

2) If you must display photographs in your bathroom, keep your exhaust fan on. No, it's not because photographs have a sense of smell. High humidity caused by showers, baths, shaving, etc., will warp and also "die" before their time.

3) Get extras. Whenever possible, purchase digital files legally from your photographer. At Josephotography we keep two sets of our clients images at different locations. This ensures that one set should survive most major catastrophes.

4) Keep them safe. If you don't have one already, purchase a fire "proof" safe. We use one at the studio and I also have one at home. Many things you own are replaceable. Your birth certificate, will, social security card, or car title all can be replaced, although it would be tedious. Your personal, and sometimes professional photographs are frequently irreplaceable. Store your albums of prints or CDs in a safe and don't worry (because it is called a "safe" after all).

That's it for now. Big day today. I'll have updated slide shows shortly.

Keep Smiling (or start smiling)
Joseph

Weddings, weddings, weddings (it's June)!

Wow what a weekend! Friday we shot Coby and Tara at my very own church. They made time for pictures at McNair Park, which turned out to be in awesome light at dusk. This group was extremely easy to work for and very friendly.

Saturday was Matt and Jenny’s wedding. It was a fun, fun day. We started out at church with some casual “getting ready” shots. Then off to Forest Park for some adventure. The rain kept us guessing and there were some unexpected road blocks. Finally we arrived at the reception. I think this was the wildest reception I’ve shot in a long time. Our awards for best dancers (other than the Bride and Groom) go to Gabe “Twinkle toes” Mattingly and Sara Rommell. Matt & Jenny took great care of everyone and seemed to think of everything, which is usually my job. The slideshow for this wedding will wait a bit, so please be patient and check back often.

It's time to finish the editing and get to bed. Everybody take care and enjoy the pictures.

Keep Smiling,
Joseph

The Date Is Set!

Our Fall Portraits In The Park date has been set for September 23! PITP is an opportunity for us to get together in a casual setting and capture some fun, relaxed portraits. In a 30 minute session our client-friends have an opportunity to work with a professional photographer one on one with no pressure. Each session also includes an 8x10 print of your choice. Due to popular demand, our sitting fees will increase to $30. Appointments that prepay will receive a $5 discount.

To learn more about Portraits In The Park, we have a webpage and slideshow dedicated to this unique portrait style and event. Just click HERE.

Even if you're not planning to join us this Fall, tell someone you know. We enjoy meeting new people as much as working with old friends and it's always a great time.

Keep Smiling,
Joseph

Casual Romance at Forest Park

Ok. I know I was just blogging about Scott's engagement session at Forest Park, but now it's my turn. Today we shot 3 engagement sessions there and each one was awesome! The most difficult part of the whole day has been just now when I tried to choose an image to represent each session and couple (on Mark & Kim I cheated and used 2). Speaking of Mark & Kim, they have a WEBSITE dedicated, for the most part, to their upcoming wedding. I think it's very creative. Not only has it helped keep me up to date on their progress as their date approaches, but it's helpful for their friends and family as well. If you're a bride, or know a bride, interested in having a wedding website of your own I highly recommend it. Kim can create a wedding website for you, too. Check out Mark & Kim's website HERE or go to www.markandkim2006.com.

I really have a lot I want to say about these sessions but I'm fighting to stay awake. It was a long, but gratifying day. I hope you love the pictures, guys!

Scrumtralescent!

If you've ever seen Saturday Night Live when Will Ferrell was on you know what funny is. In this one sketch he plays a man interviewing Charles Nelson Reiley, played by Alec Baldwin. In this sketch, Ferrell makes up a word to describe Reiley's acting skill. That word is "Scrumtralescent".

I'm now claiming that word to describe the images on our newest webpage, Portraits In The Park. Special thanks to James for getting the change made so quickly and to The Format for giving me permission to use their track Snails. There is some text on the page that describes exactly what Portraits In The Park is as an event. Anyway check it out. You know it's got to be good because I use "scrumtralescent" sparingly.

Wedding Update

Hi All!

Just a quick update. Well first I need to congratulate Marty & Anna and Mike & Jessica. We shot two beautiful weddings this weekend and I'm still pouring over the images trying to pick my favorites for the slideshows. Marty & Anna, the couple I shot, were a ton of fun and so easy to work for. They rented a 50's Ford to drive around for the day and we took a bunch of pictures with it of course. I like this picture of them on the stairs because I think it captures them best. I've also included one of my favorites from Scott's bride and groom, Jessica & Mike.

Marty & Anna's reception was catered by Designing Chefs. As a result, I was exposed to some of the most beautiful dishes. It's a shame that tastypix haven't been invented yet or I'd tell you to just lick your screens.

I'm bombarded with tasks and need to get back to them. Jamie & David's album is off to UPS in the morning and Justin & Jenny's album needs assembly. Not to mention there are 3 weddings that need album designs made. Ugh! Great thing I love my work.

Keep Smiling,
Joseph

Jonalee in NY

In the geek world of photography, there are several pilgrimages one must endure. Among them are the canyons of Arizona and Utah, Brooks Institute of Photography in California, and B&H Photo Video in New York.

One of our photographers, Jonalee, went to meet up with her husband, James, in New York City while he was there on business. This store for professional equipment is my Graceland so I was very excited when James called me from the Josephotography wing of B&H (Jonalee was too busy riding the conveyor belt they use to ship packages between departments).

James took the picture. He usually helps with my website stuff and doesn't photograph weddings. In many ways my computer programming skills resemble this photograph, so I know James isn't offended.

Keep Smiling,
Joseph

PS: James & Jonalee have a terrific blog. Not only can you read up on what's going on with them, but you can also see neat photos by Jonalee.

Engagement at Forest Park

Hi Everyone!

My other lead photographer, Scott, shot an awesome engagement session for his September 30 bride and groom, Leah and Mike, last weekend! He did such a great job that I'm planning to surprise him with with a special treat.

I have 3 engagement sessions in Forest Park in a couple weeks and I know I'll be looking to his session for some ideas. As a reward for all his efforts, I sent Scott to a River City Rascals game. Here he is with his son, Shane.

Mega Wedding Update

The following is what Y98 Mega Wedding bride, Jackie, had to say about her album:

"We FINALLY got to see our album over at my parents and WE LOVE IT! Both our families were both able to see it this weekend as well and everyone thought it was the best wedding album they've ever seen. You both captured all the details I wanted to remember. And in a way were looking through the album tells the story of our day.

I hope your business grows to everything you want it to in the years to come. I can't wait to pick out more pictures!!

Thanks again!
Jackie"

Thank God for Edy's Ice Cream!

Over the past week I've had some problems with my teeth. Most importantly was the pain associated with these problems and modern medicine's inability to diminish it. I consider myself someone with a moderate pain threshold and yet I was in disbelief all week at the level of discomfort I was feeling.

On the eve of my umteenth sleepless night last night, I conquered my fear of pain long enough to sample some Edy's Slow-Churn Style Vanilla Ice Cream. Holy Cow! Not only was I wrong about how much it might hurt, it actually felt good. Almost all of the pain was gone instantly! What better medicine could you ask for? As I took the following bites I was ecstatic for several obvious reasons.

I'd like to say more but I have some sleep to catch up on. Hopefully this information will help someone out there.

Nite nite,
Joseph

PS: Don't forget to brush!

Wedding Show follow-up

It’s the first business day after The Wedding Show at America’s Center and all I can say is, “WOW”. Thank you to everyone who was able to make it out and meet with us. We had a great time and got a lot of feedback from everyone we met with. Here’s what most of you had to say:

  • Our samples looked great.
  • Very glad that we told you what we charge upfront.
  • Our prices were very reasonable.
  • It’s great that we don’t have time limits on any packages.

We look forward to a banner year. Please give us a call about your upcoming wedding at (314) 739-4002 because the dates really are filling up.

Sincerely,
Joseph

A bride & customer service

Last Saturday, 12/17/05, I photographed a wedding in which the bride had spent a great deal of time, energy and (of course) money planning her perfect day. She intended to have portraits taken at a well-known botanical garden because of it’s indoor facility and was told before the wedding that, for a $125 fee, she would be able to do so. On her wedding day she was told by the botanical garden’s staff that she would have to have photographs taken outside in the 20ish degree weather, which made her heartbroken and angry. I did my best to help her remain calm and told her, “I’m working on a plan B.”Since we had the time and were already inside city limits I called the Adam’s Mark hotel. The Manager On Duty told me that we could use their lobby as our backup location (it was very beautiful). When we arrived I sought him out and shook his hand. The bride gave him a big hug.

This act of kindness meant a lot to the bride and groom. Although it only took some common courtesy on my part, those involved will have some nice portraits and memories to hang on to for a long time. At Josephotography, we treat others the way we want to be treated. It’s the secret of our success and a gift we’re privileged to share with others. Please give us a call so we can get together to discuss your wedding. (314) 739-4002.

Have a Merry Christmas,
Joseph

The Wedding Show

Come visit us at the St. Louis Wedding Show on January 14. We'd love to show you why our style of photography is so well liked by today's brides. Meet the photographers and obtain pricing and package information as well.

Although the show runs both Saturday and Sunday, we will not be present during Sunday's events. At Josephotography we believe that God and family are what Sundays are for. We will, however, have materials available at our booth on Sunday. Hope to see you there!

Joseph
